Venezuela Here I Come

Hey guys. Wow… it’s been forever since I wrote last. My life has been amazing and crazy lately. Thankfully God has helped me make it through. Well the last I told you about was the golf tournament that I was leaving for. Ok..so here’s the dish. Harding came in second place. And I tied for 1st on Harding’s team. I was really excited. We had a wonderful time as a team again..i really had missed the girls and was glad to be back with them.

After I came back to school I was playing the game of catch up. The great thing is that my teachers are amazing. They took time out of their own day to help me, and make sure I learned all the information I had missed. Being a Science major can be tough, especially when you miss class frequently. But thanks to my teachers, it’s like I almost never missed. So I basically worked myself to the bone, which was good for school, yet bad for my body. I ended up getting a little sick, but I’m doing great now.

Here are some fun social parts of my weeks:

- The Chi Sigma Apha, a club on campus, Basketball game. The guys were awesome and afterwards some of the fans got to play with them, in a girls vs. boys basketball game. Not to mention in BAREfeet…a very scary thing in the gym. It was so much fun, and helped to calm my stress a lot.

- Open House for my dorm. We made cookies and had our good friends come over for some movies and chatting. I love when the guys get to come in our dorms. It is about once a month for 2 hours. This week we had it on a Tuesday, but it’s normally on Sunday. The doors stay open and feet stay on the ground but it’s a great time to chill and show friends your room’s personality.

- Saturday Night was the LAST home basketball game of the season…GO HU. I love going to the games and cheering with everyone. The fans at Harding are SOOO supportive. That is always a highlight for me, and an adrenaline boost for the weekend. At Harding we have VERY original cheers and everyone gets into the game. Many people paint their faces, get totally dressed up and even loose their voices cheering so loudly. I would 150% encourage you to come and see what these basketball games are all about. You won’t be disappointed.

- Function time…woohoo. Last Friday night I was invited to a “Caddy Shack” Function. It was a BLAST. The men created individual holes all centered on sports. Some were basketball, curling, basketball, football, you name it and we had it. Then in teams of 4 we played the holes together, and yes kept score. Some of the holes were IMPOSSIBLE but so much fun. I decided to get all dressed up in argyle print socks, capri’s, collard shirt and of course flip-flops. Haha..ok the flip-flops didn’t go but they were an interesting conversation piece. That night couldn’t have been better.

As for me now, I am getting ready to leave the United States and head for South America. I am going Maracaibo, Venezuela on a Spring Break Campaign, and I am pumped. Although I have to leave Friday morning at 3:30 from Harding it will be worth it. In Venezuela we are hosting a Conference for the adults and VBS for the children. Everything of course will be in Spanish, great thing I spent last semester in Chile. We have broken into 3 groups and each group will lead one night of the VBS. My team has chosen to teach about David and Goliath. During the other time we are there, the group will be passing out flyers, taking pictures for the newspaper, interviews on TV and the radio and even some home bible studies with the people. We will also be visiting an Orphanage while we are there. The weather is supposed to be wonderful and the temperatures are going to be very high since it is summer down there. Luckily we get to go to the beach. Woohoo…that will be a lot of fun as well. I know this experience is going to be so humbling for me; I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me during this experience.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week and I can’t wait to tell you of my adventures In Venezuela. Be sure to keep all the Spring Break Mission Campaigns in your prayers. God Bless.

Matthew 28: 19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
